It summarizes performance evaluation techniques, key factors that determine success or failure, and new trends and debates in this area. The goal of this study is to provide a solid foundation for further research into this important field of finance and strategic management. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of the methodologies and determinants utilized in evaluating M&A performance. Beginning with an examination of the varied approaches employed in academic literature to measure M&A outcomes, including event studies, accounting-based measures, and survey methods, we subsequently delve into the critical determinants of M&A performance, exploring factors such as strategic fit, cultural compatibility, and integration management.
